Learning Pilates through proper Instruction.
Jill heard about this new craze caused Pilates. Thinking this was very easy, the woman signed up in a small gym. Somewhere in the middle of the session, the woman lost balanced and fell flat on the ground.
The doctor’s examination showed only some minor bruising and a cut on the head. This could have been worse if this occurred during a high intensity workout.
The worse part about the whole thing was the instructor wasn’t certified and similar incidents have happened in the past.
The program was then cancelled and can only be resumed after getting the right paperwork to ensure such an incident will not happen again.
Pilates or any other activity in which beginners have no clue should be done by a professional. This is to teach people proper technique and develop the skill of the participants in the future.
The first thing to ask before enrolling in nay program is to check if the instructors are certified professionals. There are licenses and diplomas usually displayed which are good indications these people mean business.
There are two ways where the person can receive instruction about Pilates. The first is by enrolling in a Pilates class. The other is getting the session on DVD. The individual can order this from the internet or get this from the home television shopping network.
Most classes will not exceed an hour and before the participant can do anything, the instructor will explain and show each position in descriptive detail. The professional will also be going around checking on form to make sure the right muscles are being worked on.
If there are questions, the person shouldn’t be shy to ask. It is better to work on each position correctly rather than straining a muscle and causing injury.
People who also want to teach others also need to go through a different program. After completion, the person can have sessions done in a gym or at home. Some people do this as a sideline while there are those who have made this into a profitable business.
The person should just be open to learning how this is done the proper way and being able to convey the message in a simple manner for the participants to understand.

A program can be designed to fit the person’s needs if this is to recover from an injury or if the person is pregnant. The person can inquire at the local gym or check the directory since some professionals offer sessions at home.
There are many machines and devices that are used when the person is doing Pilates. These could be done on a mat, some stretching cords or a ball. Some can be purchased for use at home since this can easily be carried around and stored.
Pilates is a good exercise to get in shape. The person should just come in comfortable attire and be open to the positions mentioned. The person should also listen carefully to be able to learn how these are used properly to ensure safety at all times.
If Jill had known better, the incident could have been avoided.
